Hitting the slopes in style!

So the 2015/16 ski season is coming to an end, the closing parties have started and the snow is starting to pour off the mountain as the temperatures begin to rise.
You are never guaranteed glorious weather when you holiday up a 2100ft mountain but April usually guarantees the odd gorgeous bout of sunshine and fresh snow combined! Here's a quick account of my birthday week in Tignes & Val D'Isere!

The good thing about France is you don't necessarily have to fly; you can drive, take the bus - guaranteed to be more enjoyable when accompanied with 40 of your uni pals, suitably merry on Genepe before you've reached Dover! Or, like us, you can take the Eurostar, straight out of Central London and wake up fresh as a daisy in the beautiful French Alps! Okay, so maybe it's not the best night's sleep I've ever had, but it is much easier with your own skis/boards. There's something kind of magical about the night time ski train! Falling asleep in London and waking up in a postcard town.
Location is everything when skiing. You want to be close enough to the slopes to not be feeling as though you've signed up for a trek to the North Pole every morning. Near to the bars so you can make it home from Apres in your ski boots and finally, somewhere that gives gorgeous panoramic views of your surroundings. Hotel Les Campanules was our beautiful home for the week.
The warmest, lovingly homely, chocolate box hotel in the centre of Tignes. The food, the spa, the decor - all stunning. I honestly can not pick a highlight from this holiday, it really was fantastic.If you were following my snapchat story (Lindsjane4) while I was away, you'll have seen for yourself the menu was to die for! Here's a few photos of our week;

So you've booked your transport, chosen a beautiful hotel and now you need to look stylish for your week on the slopes! I've done a couple of ski seasons, and one thing I've learnt is that ski chic is casual and you never want to be over dressed. Dress for the vibe; chilled out and effortless! Key items to pack in order to achieve this look: Statement jewelry, casual is transformed with a flash of something sparkly around your neck! Loose fitting knitwear and shirts - nothing says cool like the boyfriend slouch trend, (also excellent for the amount of food consumed at dinner!) A dungaree dress and some skinny jeans are also ideal. - As I've mentioned in previous posts dungarees are back, they are a dream to wear, I got the below dress in Primark for £12! Finally a couple of cute skirts and tights are a smart winter look perfect for an evening in the mountain restaurants and bars.
Find way's to recycle parts of your outfit throughout the week, I wore the same Chelsea boots & cross body bag every night and packed just 3 necklaces, choose wisely and they will match everything! - Your outfit's should  flow from brights on the slopes to understated and classic in the evening. Here's my #OOTD's and #OOTN's while in Tignes!;

Finally the skiing! I'm not going to bore you with descriptions of Espace Killy! So here's a load of snaps to illustrate the paradise for me;

So I think that's it! I had the best 23rd Birthday in these mountains with the family! A very special trip made all the more fantastic with the luxury of fine dining, sunshine, late night snow fall, a heated pool on the balcony, skiing home to a sauna & steam before dinner and of course the relaxation of being in such a beautiful environment. There's a lot to be said for a ski holiday.
